Monday 8th April - bike **** – Two rivers including a picnic at
Landguard – Sunny periods.
After two full-on days windsurf foiling on the River Orwell at Levinngton I
was pleased today dawned with light winds so could actually have a bit of a
lay-in before breakfast followed by my exercises in the garden as the sun
tried to break through the light cloud! Then as we don’t go on our bikes
much I decided to pack a picnic and head to Landguard Nature Reserve and
eat on the old jetty overlooking the Orwell as we haven’t done that
lately! Mag is not keen on going through Langer Park as you have to use the
busy Garrison Lane so we headed down to the prom which was absolutely
heaving as the kids are on holiday! We slowly made our way to the end of
the prom at The Manor end, sadly all the flood gates are closed because of
the weekends strong winds and rough sea, so we had to lift our bikes over
before continuing to Landguard which as full of lovely linnets:) The sky
was an amazing blue with whispy clouds and with the light breeze from the
east we had a very pleasant picnic as the tide raced out! Well rested we
head back with Mag turning up Bent Hill while I take my usual route to
Felixstowe Ferry for a few pics. Then out onto the bumpy River Debenn path
with my dodgy left elbow not liking that:( Turninng inland at King Fleet I
take Marsh Lane back to Felixstowe and home for a cuppa and cake. Tomorrow
is looking chilly and very windy again so will probably give windsurfing a
miss and wait for it to warm up later in the week!
